First week success!!!!

Wow!!! This past week was one for the books!!!  It is good to be back into a routine and having lots of fun in Studio H!!!

This week, all the kiddos worked hard on creating their classroom norms and more importantly designing and decorating their portfolios!!

This is so much fun for the kids! They love personalizing their folders to collect all of the amazing artwork they are going to create! Here are a few photos from the week!!!

STUDIO K-FIRST DAY!!!!!

Studio K will be learning about safety in the studio today!! There are a lot of supplies to manage in the studio! many of these items are new to kindergartners, so we will be going over how to use supplies safely... (like scissors!!! :)

Week one agenda:

What's in the studio?
Where do I sit?
How can I as an artist, be safe in the studio?
What is a portfolio, and why would I need one?


As learners, we will be answering these questions together ...pictures to follow!!!!

Studio H Sneak Peek!!!!!

The school year is officially upon us! Teachers will be back to work tomorrow and the building is a flurry of activity trying to get rooms ready for students!!! I thought I would give everyone a little snapshot of some fun new things in the art studio!

We are ready to welcome you with a bright display as you walk in...I was so excited about these life-size flowers...I really want to put them everywhere. :) 

I have some fun ideas for this particular bulletin board...keep checking back to see what we do with this!!!??? (And it's in my favorite color combo)

This year we are going to spend a lot of time talking about inquiry habits of mind!  Starting with what artists do... I dowloaded this adorable poster on Teachers Pay Teachers...

Be checking for this pamphlet coming home...It talks about everything having to do with art this year!!! My trusty schnauzer Auggie kept me company while I was folding and stapling into the wee hours of the morning!

The Art Room is Hard Work!!!!!

Greetings from Studio H!!! I can't believe that the summer has flown by so quickly.  Its hard to imagine in a couple short weeks, Studio H will be abuzz with little Osage Indians working so hard on some amazing projects!!!!

Opening up the studio after a long summer break is hard work!!! I opened the door to boxes of art supplies just waiting to be put away.

Seriously, in all honesty, all these new art supplies are super exciting! It's like Christmas opening all of the boxes...until...the paper....SO. MUCH. PAPER. It was never ending!!! 

I can't wait to see how many cool things our kiddos are going to make with all this stuff!  As most lower elementary teachers will tell you, organization is key, especially when you see over 400 students a week like I do.  Thank goodness I had my three trusty little helpers to turn the above disaster into this....
